Uniqueness and creativity, those who don't follow the crowd to make a fast buck but try to carve out a niche and produce extraordinary photos. Being a professional photographer is not essential but having photos that are technically solid, are large enough to be marketable and are eye catching is critical. We prefer Digital format to scans. If you are shooting digital, you’ll need a Digital SLR of at least 6 MP, preferably 8 MP or higher and high quality lenses. If your picture content is absolutely brilliant, the file size can be compromised.
Our online Stock photo library is rich in subject matter and we want our stock to be comprehensive and unique. We are looking for photographs that capture the diversity of India, the new India, infrastructure, globalization apart from major tourist attractions to everyday scenes, from remote landscapes to the interiors of homes, from popular destinations to little known places off the beaten track. People, festivals, food, flora, wildlife, transport communications, art, architecture, portraits and landscapes are just some of the many subjects we are looking for.
Our Selection Criterion - three vital points:
- A picture that is compelling - that needs no words to explain!
(could be of an ordinary subject)
- A picture of a rare subject or occasion (Like first landing on the moon, a UFO landing in your back-yard or a catastrophic flood!)
- A picture covering subjects that we do not have in our existing stock (We are always looking out for better pictures of subjects and situations which already exist in our stock but these pictures need to be better than what we already have with us.)
We do not want:
- Images that contain pornography or images which infringe the rights of any third party.
- Images that solely feature a logo or trademark - this is a copyright or trademark infringement.
- A series of similar images with almost identical compositions or only slightly different exposures. Choose the best one and submit it.
- Photos with less than 1024 pixels in any dimension.
- Photos that are derivative work based on other copyrighted photos (unless you are able to submit written releases from the copyright owners).
- Photos with your own embedded copyright notice, watermark, or a timestamp.
- Photos which were not properly rotated, photos with main subject not being sharp (unless blur is intentional), and too underexposed (dark) or too overexposed (bright) photos.
- Photos that have no artistic, aesthetic, stock or editorial value to photo buyers
- Excessive frames, borders, vignetting, etc. around your images.
- Family photos, vacation snapshots, casual posed portraits, casual photos of pets, and other photos more suitable for family albums.(Unless they are extraordinary images, please remember we all like our own pictures, be objective in your image selection)
- Special note about flowers and sunsets, etc. - we already have plenty of them! We love them too, but unless your photo truly stands out please avoid sending these subjects. Dramatic Sky pictures are welcome, they have to be truly great, please remember!
- Photos of modern maps, documents where names are mentioned, computer screenshots, branded toys, watches, computers and other licensed products. Photos of artworks (including publicly displayed), advertisements, posters, or photos of other photos.
